Canadian sprinter Aaron Brown gives his take on why athletes should be paid to compete in the Olympics to sustain their careers … source
Kishane Thompson ran 9.77 at the Jamaican Olympic Trials. That would make him # 1 this year.
I seriously doubt Noah Lyles will even get a medal in the men’s Olympic 100m. With Thompson, Omanyla and Seville at 9.77, 9.79 & 9.82 respectively, there is really no room for Lyles 💯
OBLIQUE & KISHANE RUN 9.82 IN HEATS AGAIN TODAY 😁
Not to bash but their time are never really accurate 😓
OMANYALA WILL CERTAINLY EARN AN OLYMPIC MEDAL IF HE IS CONSISTENT. WISH HIM ALL THE BEST AS A FORMER SPRINTER MYSELF.
He always runs 9.7 in Kenya and then? It's like the fourth year he runs 9.7 and the past three he didn't medal once. Idk…
Normally I give Omanyala a hard time because he isolates himself in Kenya all year and runs silly times due to the elevation and wind. Then he shows up for an international event and gets smoked. This year he's at least been running in international events against elite competition. This run is no different than what he normally does in Kenya every year. You'd think analysts would've caught on by now and not hyped up a time like this, but here we are. He still hasn't proven he can get through the rounds with enough speed to be a contender. Oh, and he's 28 now.
I really hope he wins gold or at least a medal in the olympics. I have seen many critic him for running fast at high altitudes. Maybe he could consider taking the rest of his trainings before the Olympics at a stadium in Mombasa which is lower in elevation?
Raising the stakes & standard for the Olympics!!! Go Kenya…
Great time; but that "A" next to it is concerning . 5900' is WAY up there. That's a 10.4 sea level adjustment.
He could absolutely medal in Paris. His fitness and timing should get him through the rounds in good shape so he can go all out in the final. He is one of the top guys and has to be a favorite to make the final and even medal. Who knows, he could win it all!
Jamaica has a small population and a hard to explain record on sprinters. Nobody said it was … just that it looks like it.
Great run congrats …good for the sport ….nam Jamaica
Just did a Ben Johnson!
It’s the altitude . Lets see in paris.
FAKE
The interview content really levels this up a notch. Great work!
A 9.79 at high altitude ? Impress me when it's at sea level then we can talk about Usain bolts world record of 9.58, end of discussion. 🙄
..surprising no Kenyan has medaled in 100 m at Olympics – yet!
On both of his sub 9.8s his physique was slim opposed to his usual muscular physique. Could be the sun. It cooks over there in Africa.
😂 that’s not a legal time oh please he only wins at his trials because he’s not running against no one, 9.79 my a..😂
He only run fast in Africa , he barely be running sub 10 . I have to question his Africa races
HE RUNS LIKE BLAKE….GREAT RACE
It'll be historic if he can break through the N.Americans. I think the last African to threaten was Fredricks of Namibia in the 90s.
But he looks as fast as anyone this year, so far. He absolutely could be on that podium.
It's good to see you in person bro
Yes if he maintains this speed he will surely medal n the Olympics
From what I've seen so far I gotta go with Lyles in Paris.
Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley need to step it up.
Fantastic performance by Omanyala. This performance, and some recent events unfortunately makes me think of Kerley as a bit of a clown.
9.8 going to be good enough to gold medal this year 🤦🏻♂️
Wish him the best – Only worried about this being his home turf + at altitude, so that combined probably gave him a 0.1sec boost.
A "virtual 9.89" in "Paris-mode" is still amazing though and the plan he has makes all the sense in the world, so hoping he can makes rounds in Paris.
Paris predictions: Clear heats, QF 10.05, SF 9.95, Final 9.84 and Bronze.

He has always been an interesting sprinter to watch. 9.79 is no doubt a good time, but commeth the place, commeth the hour…there will be such a deep field to get on the top of…he will make a final by skin of a tooth, but there he will have to kneel to other Masters of the 100m dash' craft. I wish him well though. Would be nice to see someone else on the rostrum than usual
I winder what time it would be at a normal track against others
These kinda times always throw folks off because if the athlete doesn't end up running this time or better folks are wondering what happened? IDK who wins in Paris, but I know what athlete lives to perform under the bright lights, and that's Noah Lyles. Look for him to establish a new American record in the 200M and to at least medal in the 100M
Finally, I got a chance to see my favourite youtuber😅😅
9.79? That's awesome!
I know it was at altitude, but he needs to run consistently under 9.90s in a place not at altitude
He does that with no pressure but with pressure he doesn't run as fast
It doesn't matter how good times they get at home in Kenya at high altitude, as long as they get beaten in man-to-man duels where the runners have the same conditions
Wow!
African athletes are on the rise!
If he will stay focus to execute correctly, he will become the first African 100M Olympic Gold Medal in history, talent and work is there!
9.75 my prediction
I’m excited for the Olympics…hopefully he can make a record!
Very high speed and high chance for Gold medal in the coming Olympics games.
If Omanyala continues to preserve himself he definitely can win a medal in the Olympics.
Bogos Time
The men's 100m just got a lot more interesting…
