Five Blue Water Area athletes win track & field state championships


Almont's Devin Johnston competes in the 200 meter dash during the Division 3 state track and field finals on Saturday at Kent City High School. She won the event with a a time of 24.98 seconds.

Five of the best high school track & field athletes in Michigan are from the Blue Water Area. They proved it by winning state championships in the MHSAA finals on Saturday.

More than 70 local students competed across four divisions.

Here are the final results for each one, starting with the state champions. Athletes are listed alphabetically.

Janae Hudson, Marysville: The junior won the girls shot put and set a personal record with a distance of 42.7 feet.
