Oak Park girls hurdle back to win fourth D1 title in five seasons, seventh since 2014 – The Oakland Press

ROCKFORD — As an individual runner or a track team full of them, you always want to be your best at the end, have that little finishing kick.

So it bothered the Oak Park girls that — after winning the last three Division 1 girls track state titles, and six of the last seven — they weren’t at their best at the end of the 2022 season, finishing as runner-up for the second time in that eight-year run of dominance.

That was motivation to make sure they were at their best this time around, as they tried to win their fourth title in five seasons and seventh since 2014 in the 2023 finals, held over the weekend at Rockford High School.
