Panther track & field: Isaiah Trousil sets personal-best in UNI finale

AUSTIN, Tex. — UNI Isaiah Trousil’s historic collegiate career came to a close on Wednesday night as the redshirt senior ran his final two races as a Panther at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Texas.

Trousil, who earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2022 in the 200-meter dash, opened the evening in the first of three semifinal heats in the 100 meters. Holding the second-best time in UNI history at 10.07 seconds, the reigning MVC champion clocked a time of 10.13 to take seventh place in his heat en route to an 18th place . Trousil’s top-20 finish is the second-best finish by a Panther in the event at the NCAA Championships since Brandon Carnes took 13th place in 2017 in Eugene, Oregon.

On an ideal night for sprinting competition with limited wind, Trousil wrapped his competition up in the 200-meter semifinals with a time of 20.56 second, claiming sixth place in the third and final heat and 21st place overall. In what would be the final of his UNI career, Trousil, who also won the 200-meter dash at the MVC Championships last month, set a new career-best mark by 0.03 second, etching his name in the record book one final time with the second-fastest time in the event in history.

The Panther return to action tomorrow afternoon as Makenna Wilson and Mari Shavers enter the throwing cage for the women’s hammer throw. Competition is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. CST with live coverage being streamed on +.
