AUSTIN, Texas—For the first time since 2018, the University of Hawai’i track and field team will have a competitor at the NCAA championships as sophomore Lilian Turban will wrap up an impressive campaign at Mike A Myers Stadium and Soccer Field on Saturday in the women’s high jump event.
Turban’s rise for the Rainbow Wahine has been steady as she made her mark a year ago as placing second in the Big West Championships and made her first career NCAA appearance finishing 22nd overall. Her sophomore season has been one for the record books as she captured the MPSF indoor high jump championship and the Big West outdoor high jump championship, reaching a career-high 1.85m (6′ ¾) in the process. Turban also had an impressive stretch where she won seven consecutive events. Her streak was broken in the NCAA Championships First Round, where she matched her career-high jump, placing third.
While the championships began on June 6th in Austin, Texas, Turban’s event is scheduled to be one of the final events as she is scheduled to compete on June 10th at approximately 2:30 p.m. HT.
