MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Junior forward David Jones has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll team for his performance on the court last week.

It marks the first weekly honor of the season for Jones and the Tigers.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic product powered Memphis with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in a 92-74 win over Alabama State on Friday. It marked his second-straight double-double.

 

In 26 minutes, Jones shot 7-of-12 overall and connected on 4-of-7 from three-point range.

On the season, he’s averaging 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 42.1 percent overall and 52.6 percent from long distance.

The Tigers (3-0) are back in action Wednesday when they open up play in Nassau, Bahamas against Michigan in the Battle 4 Atlantis during Feast Week. The game with the Wolverines is set for a 4 p.m. CT tip on ESPN2.
