2024 Men’s Track and Field Outdoor ODAC Championship Preview


BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Washington and Lee University men’s and field team will compete at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Field Championships hosted by Bridgewater College on Friday and Saturday.

The Blue and White finished in second place at the conference meet last season, tallying 150 points from 37 top-eight finishers.

The Generals have seven returning top-three finishers from last season’s outdoor conference . Evan Langhammer, Danny Jakubowski-Lewis and Adam Roy are returning champions in their respective events. Langhammer won the pole vault title last season, clearing a height of 4.46m, and looks to sweep the indoor and outdoor title. He ranks third in the ODAC this season with a a mark of 4.18m (13′-08.50″). Jakubowski-Lewis posted the best time in the preliminary rounds with a time of 55.36s before crossing the finish line in 55.10s to secure . He holds the fifth-best time in the conference this season, clocking in a time of 56.81s at the W&L Carnival on Mar. 15. Roy is the -time defending champion in the javelin after winning titles in 2022 and 2023, he was crowned last year’s champion after recording a toss of 55.52m. Roy holds the second-best mark in the ODAC, only behind teammate George Mann, with a mark of 57.14m (187′-06.00″) which he set at last weekend’s Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invite.

Jakubowski-Lewis finished in second place in the 110m hurdles last season with a time of 15.44s, he holds the fifth-best time in the ODAC this season with a mark of 15.82s which he set at the Doc Jopson Invite on Mar. 22. Colin Verrett is a returning All-ODAC performer in the 10,000m, he clocked in a time of 32:02.82 to finish in third last season. Verrett ranks fifth in the conference this season in the event as he crossed the finish line in 31:48.27 at the Colonial Relays on Apr. 4. Brandon Makowski finished third in javelin last season as he recorded a mark of 48.00m, he ranks eighth in the ODAC this season with a mark of 46.18m (151′-06.00″). Roy turned in a third place finish in the shot put last season, recording a toss of 14.21m. Roy ranks third in the conference this season with a mark fo 13.64m (44′-09.00″).
