Track and Field Heads to Tech this Weekend


ABILENE – Abilene Christian sends 42 athletes to Texas Tech’s Jarvis Scott Open this weekend.
 
The Wildcats have 19 women competing in a dozen events and 23 men entered in 11 events.
 

ACU is coming off of a strong showing at Texas A&M’s Charlie Thomas Invitational. Abilene Christian had three event champions and two ACU top-10 marks. ACU had new marks in both the women’s and men’s 3000 meters. Gabe Embree ran the 3000 in 8:35.70 for the seventh-best time for ACU, and Bella Evans had ACU’s ninth-best time, posting a 10:06.87 to win the women’s 3000.
 
Athan Huelskamp won the men’s weight throw with a heave of 18.48 meters.
 
Ella Anttila scored a victory in the women’s triple jump, clearing 12,46 meters.
 
The action begins for ACU on Friday at 3 p.m.
