Rainbow Wahine Head Back to Seattle for Husky Classic


SEATTLE – Following a pair of strong performances at the first two meets of the indoor season, the Hawai’i women’s track & field team returns to Seattle for the Husky Classic Friday and Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor Center.

UH has added 18 new marks to the program’s indoor top 10 lists over the first two meets, while currently holding the MPSF lead in three different events. Additionally, a Hawai’i athlete or relay team sits in the top four of the conference in four other events.
 
Alyssa Mae Antolin took home another honor the last time out to add to a growing list over her career, earning MPSF Athlete of the Week recognition following the UW Invite. The senior blew away the field in the 200m with an MPSF-leading time of 24.19, finishing .54 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Antolin also ran a 7.59 in the 60m prelims and sits in sixth in the conference in that event.
 
Sammie Gordon sits atop the MPSF high jump leaderboard after posting the ninth-best mark in UH history at the UW Invite with a jump of 1.70m. Gordon also moved into fifth on the school indoor 200m top 10 list with a time of 25.05 at the season-opening Spokane Indoor Challenge, while also contributing to a pair of new entries to the program 4x400m relay indoor top 10 list.
 
Tara Wyllie leads the conference in the triple jump after setting a mark of 12.42m at the UW Invite, putting her in second all-time at UH. The sophomore is one of just two MPSF athletes to jump over 12.00m and holds the conference lead by 0.25m. Wyllie is also currently fifth in school history in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.69.
 
Following the Husky Classic, the Rainbow Wahine will turn their attention to the MPSF Indoor Championships, Feb. 25-26 in Spokane, Wash.
