Track & Field Concludes Final Prep Weekend for Atlantic 10 Championships

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle track & field teams competed in a pair of meets this past weekend as a final tune-up for Atlantic 10 Championships coming in two weeks. Groups competed at the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, and the Fastrack Invitational in Staten Island.

HOW IT HAPPENED (FASTRACK INVITATIONAL)

  • The women’s 400 meters saw a pair of Explorers finish near the top of the standings.
  • Freshman Soleil Morrison, who is the fastest A-10 rookie in the event, closed in sixth place (58.01) while senior Maya Primas was just behind her in eighth place (58.20).
  • Junior Kasi Brown also finished in sixth place in the high jump, clearing 5’3″.
  • In the women’s mile, Georgia-Rose Dawson registered a 10th-place showing with a time of 5:04.53.
  • On the men’s side, a trio of La Salle runners posted top-30 finishes in the 3,000 meters, led by Malthe Bogebjerg and his 18th-place showing.

HOW IT HAPPENED (BU VALENTINE INVITATIONAL)

  • Liam Rivard put together an impressive race in the 800 meters as he clocked in at 1:48.40.
  • The time is the fastest in the Atlantic 10 this season and was good for the 10th-quickest time by a collegiate runner in the race.
  • Last year’s A-10 indoor gold medalist in the event, Rivard was just off his personal best time of 1:48.21, set last year at the same race.

  • The Explorers will next compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Feb. 23-24 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
