LANDOVER — As many as 91 area athletes have qualified and are scheduled to compete at the Maryland Outdoor Championships to be held in Landover on Wednesday and Thursday.

Among those competing will be returning state champions Carter Hess, Brandi Gochenauer and Avery Miller.

Allegany’s Miller won four events last year as a sophomore and will be attempting to defend her titles in those events this year. She will be the No. 1 seed in the , 200m, and long jump.

No girl athlete has ever won the maximum four events in the Maryland state championship meet twice. She has drawn interest from several major track programs including Notre Dame, Colorado, North Carolina and South Carolina.
