(Avoca, IA) – AHSTW boy’s track and field have already jumped into track and field action this week while finishing third as a team overall in last night’s meet at Woodbine. Head Coach Jackson Renberg was happy with the night his boys had out on the track including Luke Sternberg in the 200m dash, Gavin Newcomb in the 110m hurdles, and the relay teams in the 4x200m relay, 4x800m relay, and the shuttle hurdle.
With all of these improvements, it brings a lot of excitement to the program. The weather is getting better outside to be able to compete outdoors and the Vikings are looking to take advantage of the weather this week and utilize this excitement to see it all pay off in the end.
The Vikings are jumping into action tonight for back-to-back track meets after last night’s successful meet. While last night had some tough competition, tonight will be even tougher with Glenwood, Fremont-Mills, and East Mills all taking the track to give AHSTW that extra boost of motivation to continue this train of improvement. Many of these boys just ran in a few events last night so that they could be ready for tonight’s competition.
Coach Renberg believes that the number one thing moving forward is working on handoffs, exchanges, and the other technical aspects that put teams over the top. While these are minor things moving forward to improve, they are important to put AHSTW over the top.
AHSTW will travel to Fremont-Mills tonight for track and field action that will start at 4:30 p.m. You can find all of that meet’s results right on our website at westerniowatoday.com.
