Beavers voted eighth in NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches’ Poll


BEMIDJI, Minn. –The Bemidji State University Women’s & team were voted by Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference head coaches to finish eighth in the 2024 NSIC Outdoor & Preseason Coaches’ Poll announced by the league Thursday morning.
 
The Beavers were voted to finish the highest in the preseason poll since tabbed to finish seventh in the 2021 poll. Seniors Mary Goodwin (Steeplechase) and Tierra Doss (Throws) were selected as the Beavers’ Preseason to Watch for the second consecutive season.
 
Bemidji State finished with 79 points in the poll to finish eighth while Minnesota State University, Mankato was a unanimous favorite to win the conference.
 
The Beavers are coming off a successful indoor season where they finished eighth at the NSIC Indoor . The Beavers broke seven personal records during the two-day including Goodwin who broke her own program record in the 3000-meter with a time of 10:02.46 and placed sixth in the event. Senior Natalie Fultz who finished fifth in the pentathlon with a personal-best 3,374 points and senior Janice Cole also set a personal record in the 400-meter dash and placed eighth with a time of 58.97.
 
“This team is tiny but mighty,” said head coach Mike Lynch. “We have lots of talent on this team and we are close to having that breakout meet/season! This is a fun team to coach and see what they can do in competition.”
 
Bemidji State will begin the 2024 outdoor season this weekend March 15-16 by sending three Beavers, Janice Cole, Mary Goodwin and Lexi Erickson south to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Black & Gold Invite hosted by University of Central .
