It was a busy weekend for BFA XC/Track alumni.
Damian Bolduc, Class of 1995, ran the Paul Mailman 5k in Montpelier, placing 9th overall and 2nd in his age group in 22:23.
Clark Magnan, Class of 1996, ran in the Newport Marathon in Newport, RI, placing 258th out of 958. His time of 3:40:56 placed him 13th in his age group.
Meredith Mashtare, Class of 2019, ran for an all-women’s team in the Mad River Quadrathlon. She was the top woman finisher for the 5.7-mile run in 39:38. Her team was the top women’s team and the second 5-person team to finish.
Manny Chiappinelli, Class of 2022, competing for Trinity College, competed in the Decathlon over the weekend. On day one, he placed 5th in the 100m in 12.02 PR, placed 11th in the long jump 16′ 5.75″, placed 2nd in the shot put l, 36′ 2.75″, placed 10th in the high jump, 5′ 0.5″, PR, and placed 7th in the 400m, 57.68 PR. On day two, he placed 10th in 110m hurdles, 20.40 PR, placed 2nd discus 109′ 3″, placed 6th in pole vault. 9′ 4.25″, placed 3rd in javelin, 132′ 11″, and 7th in 1500m, 5:49.16. He placed 6th overall out of 12 athletes competing with a new PR in points, 4,424. Side note: the Decathlon is the toughest two-day competition in track and field.
Ethan Mashtare, class of 2022, competing for UMASS Lowell, ran the Mile Friday, April 12, in a tune-up for his next steeplechase race. He placed 39th in 4:16.52.
Lucas MacKenzie, class of 2022, competing for Wheaton College, ran the 5000m on Saturday, April 13, at Smith College, placing 16th in a near PR time of 17:57.74.
Lauren Kate Garceau, Class of 2023, competing for St. Anselm College, ran the 5000m yesterday, placing 9th in a near PR time of 20:27.67.
Steeplechase: The steeplechase is one of, if not the hardest, races on the track. BFA-St. Albans has three athletes competing in it this spring. This race is not for the faint of heart. You need strength, stamina, and hurdling skills.
Jacob Tremblay, Class of 2022, competing for the University of Vermont, ran his first steeplechase race on April 13. He placed 2nd in a new PR time of 9:43.46.
Loghan Hughes, Class of 2022, competed in her first steeplechase ever on Friday night, April 12, while competing for UCONN. She placed 8th in 11:33.77.
