Buffs, Lady Buffs Head into NCAA National Championships Ranked Top-Five in the Nation

NEW ORLEANS, LA- The West and Buffs and Lady Buffs are gearing up for the Division II National this week in Emporia, Kansas. The Buffs come in ranked No. 3 in the nation while the Lady Buffs are coming in ranked No. 5 according to the USTFCCCA national ranking poll.

Under the leadership of Director of and and Cross Country Coach Matt Stewart, both programs have demonstrated consistent performance, maintaining their positions in the top 5 for the past seven weeks.

The Buffs have come agonizingly close to an outdoor national title the last three years in a row. The Buffs have eight athletes in eight events with nine top-10 marks. Isaac Botsio and William Amponsah, are national leaders in the 100 meters and 10,000 meters, respectively.

Rounding out the top-5 schools are No. 1 Grand Valley, No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 3 WTAMU, No. 4 Missouri Southern and No. 5 Minnesota State.

The last time the Lady Buffs were outside of the top-5 was in 2019. Nine top-10 marks have them knocking on the door for a national title once again. The only catch is that six of those times are split between three individuals: Deborah Acheampong, Corrssia Perry, and Florance Uwajeneza in the 100 meters, , 400 meters, 5000 meters, and 10,000 meters respectively.

Rounding out the top-5 schools are No. 1 Adams State, No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 3 Minnesota State, No. 4 Grand Valley, and No. 5 WTAMU.

COMING UP
The No. 3 Buffs and No. 5 Lady Buffs will have a total of 28 student-athletes competing in the DII National from May 23-25 at Emporia State University at Welch Stadium. Buff Nation can watch live on .com.
