RICHMOND, Va. (March 26, 2024) – The CAA has announced its outdoor and field weekly awards for the week of March 18 through March 24. Campbell redshirt senior Chastity Pickett was named Women’s CAA of the Week, and Northeastern fifth-year Dominique Biron earned Women’s CAA Field of the Week honors. On the men’s side, Northeastern graduate student Kerem Ayhan received of Week accolades, and North Carolina A&T graduate student Joseph Palmer was recognized as Field of the Week.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Chastity Pickett, Campbell
R-Senior | Sprints/Hurdles | Albany, Ga. / Westover Comprehensive HS
Pickett ran the conference’s fastest time in the 200m this season and helped the Camels 4x100m relay team break a 25-year-old conference record at the Bob Davison Team Challenge. The redshirt senior took first place in the 200m, crossing the finish in 23.33 (w). Her time ranks 11th in the NCAA East Region and 17th in the NCAA this spring. She then ran the second leg on the 4x100m relay team that posted a blazing time of 44.58 to win the competition, breaking the CAA record set by George Mason in 1999. The performance also broke CU’s program record in the event, ranking 10th in the NCAA East Region and 18th in the NCAA this season.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dominique Biron, Northeastern
Fifth Year | Combined Events | Bow, N.H. / Cushing Academy
Biron recorded four jumps over 6.00m in the long jump at the UCF Knight Invite, including a wind-aided 6.29m (20-07.75). With the mark, Biron placed third in the competition but also recorded a wind-legal 6.15m (20-02.25) – a personal-best leap for the fifth-year Husky, ranking first in the CAA, ninth in the NCAA East Region and 21st nationally. In addition, Biron posted the league’s top time in the 400m hurdles, 1:01.45, and the conference’s third-fastest 100m hurdle time at 14.18. 
 
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kerem Ayhan, Northeastern
Graduate | Distance | Hackettstown, N.J. / Blair
Kerem ran the third-fastest 800m time in the country this season at the UCF Knights Invite. The CAA Indoor 800m champion set the league standard outdoors at 1:47.92, finishing second in the competition. The mark also ranks second in the NCAA East Region. In addition, Kerem ran a personal-best time in the 400m at 47.85 – a mark that ranks fourth in the conference this season. 
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Joseph Palmer, North Carolina A&T
Graduate | Jumps | Louisville, Ky. / Moore
Palmer won the triple jump at the Bob Davison Team Challenge with a league-leading mark of 14.94m (49-00.25). The leap ranks 16th in the NCAA East Region and 30th in the NCAA this spring. In addition, Palmer competed in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.80m (22-03.75), which ranks fourth in the CAA.
