With the weather showing signs of spring, a host of spring sports, including track and field, are kicking off their seasons. The Elizabethton track and field teams had an outstanding start to the season as they traveled to Bluff City to participate in the Patriot Preview track and field event on Tuesday, capturing first place in both boys’ and girls’ action.

Senior Cadie Digby led the talented young girls’ team, while John Siepert, Max Garner, Maddox Lewis, Jackson Hobbs, and Zion Reddick had notable performances for the Cyclone boys’ squad.

On the boys’ side, the Cyclones took top honors with a score of 177, outscoring second-place finishers West Ridge and Tennessee High by 52 points, who finished in a tie with 125 points each. The remaining top eight teams were John Battle (66), Sullivan East (58), Happy Valley (28), Unicoi Co. (7), and Kingsport Area Christian Home Education Association (6).

In the girls’ competition, the Lady Cyclones emerged victorious with a score of 147, followed by West Ridge (138) and Tennessee High (125). The remaining top eight teams were Sullivan East (74), John Battle (43), Happy Valley (43), Unicoi Co. (11), and Kingsport Area Christian Home Education Association (7).
