Senior Libby Strotman led a group of three scoring Hope College women’s javelin throwers on Friday at the Grand Valley State University Early Meet.
Strotman (Park Ridge, Illinois / Maine Township HS) posted the Flying Dutch’s top performance for the day with a runner-up toss of 35.14 meters (115-3 ½).
Nine from Hope recorded Top 10 performances on Friday. The two-day meet concludes on Saturday, April 6. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
Junior Amanda Timonen (Palatine, Illinois / William Fremd) finished fourth in the javelin with a distance of 32.56 meters (106-9 7/8). Sophomore Karly Roelofs (Kingsley, Michigan / Kingsley Area) took fifth at 27.84 meters (91-4).
In the triple jump, junior Allison Schram (Fenton, Michigan / Hartland) placed third after leaping 9.91 meters (32-6 1/8).
Sophomore Elliana Johnson (East Lansing, Michigan / Haslett) finished fourth at 9.84 meters (32-3 3/8). Sophomore Meredith Kramer (Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan / Grosse Pointe South) took sixth at 9.26 meters (30-4 ½). Freshman Kiersten Schmitt (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) was seventh at 9.13 meters (29-11 3/8).
In the pole vault, freshman Natalie Bennett (Bruce Township, Michigan / Romeo) cleared 2.80 meters (9-2 ¼) for seventh place. Freshman Abigail Cumings (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) was eighth after reaching the same height.
