Men’s Track & Field Compete at Pioneer Invite

(LEXINGTON, KY.) – Thomas More University men’s track and field team opened their outdoor season against other colleges and universities across Kentucky at the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Transylvania University. The student-athletes graciously welcomed the chilly temperatures and great weather to begin the next chapter of the 2024 Track and Field Season.

  • Senior Austin Shaffer (Independence, KY./Simon Kenton) led the Saints distance team in the 5k with a 16:27 finish, earning him 10th place and a time of 4:25.82 in the 1500 Meter race.
  • First-Year Marcus Johnson (Cincinnati, OH./West Clermont/Hocking) exploded in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.01 seconds and a first-place finish, followed by a 200 Meter Dash time of 23.20 seconds, earning him 10th place.
  • First-Year Carson Oldham (Flemingsburg, KY./Fleming County) posted an 11.43 m Shot Put mark for another top-10 finish for the Saints.
  • First-Year Judson Lawrie (Indianapolis, IN./Roncalli) followed close with a time of 24.28 seconds in the 200 Meter Dash and led the Saints in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 56.48 seconds.
  • First-Year Montrell Henderson made his first appearance for the Saints in the 200 Meter Dash as well!
  • Sophomore Jude Theriot (Independence, KY../Simon Kenton) placed 26th in the 800 Meter Dash with a time of 2:12.70.
  • First-Year David Warner (Indianapolis, IN./Roncalli) followed Jude with a 2:15.20 finish.

Up Next

The Saints will continue to work at practice this week and look to improve upon their performance today at the Hanover Invitational next Saturday, March 30th in Hanover, IN.
