Men’s Track & Field Gets The Outdoor Campaign Underway at The Towson Opener

Towson, Md. – Returning after winning the IC4A/ECAC 400 meter hurdles title in his last appearance in the event, graduate student Michael Arnold continued his winning ways. He didn’t quite match last spring’s time of 52.16s but his 53.57 mark left all competition far behind.

In the field, sophomore Aiden Walker made the Towson circle his. He earned gold in the discus throw with a new personal record of 48.46m, showing steady improvement from his 46.58m best from last outdoor season. That vaulted him from seventh to fifth place on UMBC’s all-time list.

Freshman Scott Gersten competed in his first collegiate event, wielding the javelin to a fifth place with a throw of 50.77 meters.

Freshman Xavier Doctor started his outdoor collegiate career in stride with a consistency carried over from this winter. He earned a bronze in the 400 meters, posting an impressive initial mark of 50.46.

The men’s 4x400m relay team (Arnold, Adegboyo, Marquis Miller, Fred-Morgan Iheanacho) ran a strong race, finishing just a shade behind Coppin State with a time of 3:16.00.
