Last Time At Penn Relay Carnival
The UMBC men’s track and field program competed in three relays and four field events last time at Franklin Field. Iosif Papa had his most impressive performance, landing a bronze medal throw in the ultra-competitive discus throw event with a toss of 51.78 meters. Gabriel Koletsi placed sixth in the javelin, launching the implement 67.53 meters. Ibra Khairat finished ninth out of twenty-two elite participants in the triple jump, leaping to 13.82 meters. As for the relay teams, the 4×200 quartet of alums Shavar Staats and Shamar Barnes, along with current Retrievers Michael Arnold and Seun Olajide fell just short of the cut line in preliminaries with ninth overall at 1:28.69s. The 4×400 group of Jayo Adegboyo, Arnold, and alums Alexander Ianniello and Nicolas Alphonse fared similarly, cracking the top ten with a clocked time of 3:30.53s.
