Preview
Over 50 athletes will compete in Great Falls, Mont. on Thursday in what will largely be a dual with the University of Providence. Many athletes will load up on multiple events to get extra work in preparation for a busy final month of the season.
Josh Smalley approached the NAIA B Standard in the Pole Vault last week and will be chasing that height Thursday. Means will look to jump the NAIA A Standard in the High Jump to further guarantee himself a spot at Nationals. Tim Sellars is knocking on the door of the B Standard in the Shot Put, as is Rylee Herbstritt in the 400m Hurdles.
For Friday’s meet in Spokane, Wash., 12 athletes will compete in two events that are more rarely contested – the 10,000m and the 3,000m Steeplechase. Connor O’Hara and Zach Rector will pursue the NAIA B Standard in the 10k with Zack Gacnik rabbiting the race at that pace. Ben Wallace, Anna Terry, and Nicole Morgen will also run the 10k to gain experience for the Frontier Conference Championships coming up next month. Gardner, Luke Decker, Daniel Koralewski, Hannah Sempf, Jenna Castro, and Grace Schopp will race the steeple. Montana Tech and Rocky Mountain College will also attend the meet, so there will be strong Frontier Conference competition.
Running events and field events will begin at 10:00 am Mountain in Great Falls Thursday with a rolling schedule. In Spokane Friday, Saints’ events will begin at 1:45 pm Mountain with live results available HERE.
