FAYETTE — The Helias Crusaders won 14-of-19 boys events Tuesday to dominate their way to a team championship at the Central Methodist Invitational.
Helias totaled 301 points in the eight-team meet. Boonville was second with 82 points and Moberly was third with 81.
Matthew Malmstrom was a triple-winner in individual events to lead Helias, taking first place in the boys pole vault, discus and 110-meter hurdles. He picked up a third-place finish in his fourth event, the high jump.
Malmstrom broke the Helias record in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.45 seconds.
Alex Marberry was a double-winner in the boys 200- and 400-meter dashes. Michael Malmstrom won the 300-meter hurdles, Ian Benne placed first in the 800-meter run and Daniel Morris took first place in the 3,200-meter run.
Helias won five of the seven boys field events. Joining Matthew Malmstrom with event wins were Logan Hillman in the long jump, Tim Tharp in the triple jump and Stephen Meisel in the javelin.
The Crusaders also won three of the four relay events: Michael Malmstrom, Matteo Chignoli, Deven Crisostomo and Ian Jerozal in the 4×200-meter relay; Crisostomo, Nick Ammons, Luke Swan and Benne in the 4×400-meter relay; and Noah Doolittle, Ammons, Benne and Harrison Knernschield in the 4×800-meter relay.
The Helias Lady Crusaders also won a team championship with eight event wins and 210 points. Moberly placed second with 144 points, followed by Harrisburg in third place with 132.
Izzy Struemph won the girls 200 and 400 to lead the Lady Crusaders. AnnaJo Hill took first in the 100-meter dash and Kate Rodemann placed first in the 800.
In field events, Daelyn Crisostomo won the pole vault and Abby Verslues placed first in the shot put.
As for relays, Olivia Luebbering, Rodemann, Stella Phillips and Emmie Patek won the 4×400 relay for the Helias girls, while Lauren Mathews, Iris Morrisey, Patek and Corynn Frank finished first in the 4×800 relay.
The New Bloomfield boys took fourth place with 74 points and the Lady Wildcats finished seventh in the team standings with 35 points.
For the boys, Ben Speaks took second place in the 200, while Jayson Locke placed third in the 3,200 and the 4×800 relay.
For the girls, Myah Briggs finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.
