NASHVILLE, Tenn.– The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field teams wrapped up the regular season with a strong performance at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.
Meet Highlights
- Sam Shuman set the tone for the meet on Friday night with a new school record in the steeplechase (8:58.28) which was good enough for a sixth place finish.
- Angus Monro set two PR’s during the meet, one in the 1500 meter (3:52.07, 2nd place finish) and the other in the 800m (1:53.28, 10th place).
- Maggie Roy finished the 1500m recording a PR with a time of 4:38.16.
- Hudson Hall secured two PR’s, one in the 1500m (3:52.88) which scored a fourth place finish and then finished with a time of 1:55.88 in the 800m.
- Brady Millikin PR’d in the steeplechase going for 11th place with a mark of 9:27.75.
- In the 800m, David Stukey set a new personal best landing a time of 1:54.33.
- JaDerrika Welch-Fields had a PR in both the high jump (1.70m) and the 400m (59.48). Welch-Fields also broke the school record in the high jump.
- Janay Chapman gained a PR in the 100m, finishing with a time of 11.96.
- In just 21.80, Khalid White scored a new PR during the 200m.
- Chadwick Stewart finished ninth in the 100m by crossing the finish line at a personal best 10.64.
- Alaina Gordon PR’d in the 100m, finishing at a time of 12.22.
- Sanaa Smith finished at 58.58 which marked a new PR for the 400m.
“This meet was big for a lot of people. We are very excited for conference,” said Skyhawk track and field head coach Jolyta Henderson. “The team is right where we need them to be. With some rest and some fine tuning, we expect some great things at this outdoor conference championship.”
UT Martin will have two weeks to prepare before the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships (May 9-May 11).
