Track and Field: Park Rapids girls claim title at D-G-F Invitational – Park Rapids Enterprise


GLYNDON – Six winning performances and four -up finishes paved the way for the Park Rapids girls track and field team to win the team title at the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Invitational on Wednesday, May 1.

In the boys meet, Park Rapids used a pair of winning efforts and five -up showings to finish second behind D-G-F in this eight-team meet that was rained out on Tuesday, April 30.

The Panthers won three relays, went 1-2 in both hurdles races and took first in the pole vault to score 128.5 points for their second straight girls title. Barnesville was second with 115 points.

Brooke Kritzeck took first in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.82 and was the -up in the 300 hurdles in 54.43 while Grace Officer won the 300 hurdles in 52.71 and finished second in the 100 hurdles in 18.57. Addison Lauwagie was the champion in the pole vault by clearing 10 feet.

Madeline Brandt, Makenna Maanum, Nora Bolton and Grace Etter opened the events by winning the 4 x relay in 10:56.61. Avery Schueller, Anna Rickbeil, Olivia Miller and Lauwagie won the 4 x 200 relay in 1:53.22. Miller, Brandt, Rickbeil and Lauwagie closed the events with a winning time of 4:21.48 in the 4 x 400 relay.

The other runner-up finishes for Park Rapids were Brandt in the 400 (1:02.88) and Sarah Hartung in the discus (105 feet, 7 inches). Taking third were Miller in the 200 (27.91) and Kritzeck in the high jump (4-8).

Kaleb Weaver threw the shot put 39 feet, 8.50 inches to place fifth at the D-G-F Invitational on Wednesday, May 1.

Turning in the Panthers’ top finishes in the other events were Schueller in the 100 (sixth in 13.84), Maanum in the (ninth in 2:43.12), Greta Galzki in the 1,600 (10th in 6:34.58), Bolton in the 3,200 (fifth in 13:18.41), Hartung in the shot put (sixth at 28-9), Miller in the long jump (10th at 14-7.50) and Brandi Morgan in the triple jump (11th at 29-9.50). Amelia Gravdahl, Kiera Demoret, Cassidy Grewe and Officer took fourth in the 4 x 100 relay in 55.42.

Noah Huot won the 3,200 in 10:23.72 with Zach Brewer, Tyler Huot, Alex Huot and Asher Bervig taking first in the 4 x relay in 8:57.69 to lead the Park Rapids boys. Kaden Gartner was the runner-up in the 400 in 54.53 while Ephraim Bervig was the runner-up in the in 2:05.16 and Noah Huot was second in the 1,600 in 4:38.21. Jarrett Galzki also finished second in the pole vault by clearing 11 feet. The 4 x 200 relay team of Thomas Hartung, Jaydon Walen, Galzki and Gartner clocked a runner-up 1:39.45.

Placing third were Walen in the 100 (11.83), Ephraim Bervig in the 1,600 (4:42.48), Brewer in the 800 (2:12.91) and Asher Bervig in the 3,200 (10:28.28). The 4 x 100 relay unit of Walen, Leo Kaufenberg, Galzki and Hartung clocked a 47.94 for third place.

Park Rapids’ top performers in the other events were Kaufenberg in the 200 (13th in 2), Corbin Schiller in the 110 hurdles (sixth in 19.03) and 300 hurdles (fourth in 47.35), Kaleb Weaver in the shot put (fifth at 39-8.50), Hartung in the discus (fourth at 111-5), Gartner in the high jump (ninth at 5-2), Walen in the long jump (fourth at 18-3.75) and Alex Huot in the triple jump (fifth at 36-4).

D-G-F tallied 271 points to run away with the boys title. The Panthers were a distant second with 132 points.
