COLUMBIA, Mo. — Eighteen University of Missouri Track and Field student-athletes will take part in the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships West First Round competition Wednesday through Saturday at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The qualifiers from the East and West regionals will compete in the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon. This week’s West regional takes place at Arkansas’ John McDonnell Field and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Student-athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event earn a berth into the NCAA West First Rounds. Also, the best 24 relay times advance to the NCAA preliminaries. Athletes with the top 12 times and marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West First Rounds sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene. The University of Kentucky is hosting the NCAA East First Round competition in Lexington, Kentucky.
In Wednesday’s first day of action at Arkansas, three members of the Mizzou men’s team will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw, javelin and shot put. Making his second NCAA regional appearance, junior Sam Innes, with a qualifying mark of 62.31 meters, will kick off Mizzou’s competitors in the hammer throw, starting at 10 a.m. CT in the first flight of prelims. In the javelin, junior Callan Saldutto, a three-time NCAA First Round qualifier, will compete in the second flight at 2 p.m. after qualifying with a throw of 70.52 meters. In the shot put, junior Skylar Coffey will compete in his first of two events in Fayetteville at 7 p.m., qualifying for the second flight with a throw of 18.31 meters.
On Thursday, nine members of the Mizzou women’s team will participate in six events, starting with sophomore Petra Gombas (57.91 meters) in the hammer throw at 10 a.m. Three graduate student Tigers will compete in the women’s javelin at 2 p.m.: Ava Curry (47.65m), two-time All-American Skylar Ciccolini (52.43m) and four-time NCAA First Round qualifier Erin Zimmerman (52.94m). At 6 p.m., sophomore Isabella Sokolova (6.21m) will compete in the long jump.
Later Thursday evening, graduate student and three-time NCAA regional qualifier Emily Offenheiser will compete in her first of two events, throwing the shot put (15.75m) in the first flight at 7 p.m.
Junior Kelsey Schweizer, a three-time NCAA qualifier, will run in the second heat of the 800 meters at 7:50 p.m., looking to improve on her qualifying time of 2 minutes, 3.93 seconds. In the night’s final event at 9:10 p.m., a pair of Tigers will run in the 10,000 meters: graduate students Jenna Schwartz (33:56.58) and Mikayla Reed (34:12.97).
The men are back in action Friday, starting with four Tigers in the discus at 1 p.m.: junior and two-time NCAA qualifier Rece Rowan (56.56m), junior and two-time NCAA qualifier Tarique George (56.84) and Coffey (58.24) all in the second flight. With the seventh-best qualifying throw in the field, graduate student and four-time NCAA qualifier Mitch Weber (60.58) will throw in the third flight.
At 6 p.m., freshman Sterling Scott, a USTFCCCA All-American during Indoor season, looks to add to his impressive debut season in the triple jump, qualifying with an outdoors season-best jump of 15.67m.
Finally, on Saturday, Offenheiser returns to action in the women’s discus (52.22m) at 1 p.m., along with teammate Ames Burton (53.55m), a junior competing in her second NCAA First Round competition.
Newly crowned Southeastern Conference champion and MU junior Euphenie Andre rounds out the competition at 6 p.m. in the triple jump, bringing to Arkansas the seventh-best qualifying jump (13.32m) in the NCAA field.
