Warsaw Takes First Place At Girls Track And Field Regional


There were a handful of local that qualified for the state finals, but the big story coming out of the Kokomo Girls Track and FIeld Regional on Tuesday was the Warsaw Lady Tigers winning the meet to add yet another trophy to an already impressive season. Warsaw finished with 81 points, Penn came in second with 54, while South Bend took third with 36.
Joey Rastrelli took first place in two events, winning regional titles in both the 800M and 1600M races. Camryn Burner won the . Annabel Parker finished in the top three in both the 100M and 300M hurdles. The 4x100M relay team of Anna Stevens, Addison Williams, Claire Walters and Burner took third place in the event.

The Lady Tigers had two top-three finishers in the pole vault, with Margaret Barnett winning the event and Elliana Transparenti finishing in third.
Outside of Warsaw, local dominated the field events to clinch births in the state finals. Whitko’s Gwen Howard continued her excellent career by qualifying for state for the third time in as many years by winning the shot put competition by more than five feet with a throw of 47’2.25”. Coming in second was Triton’s Addyson Viers with a throw of 42’0.5”.
Wawasee’s Emma Yoder advanced to state once again by winning the regional title in discus, taking first place with a throw of 142’9”, beating out second place by 10 feet. Howard took third place in the event with a throw of 132’ and will compete in two events at state. Warsaw’s Abbigal Kohler finished sixth, Viers took seventh while Wawasee’s Brooklynn Gibson finished eighth.

Lakeland Christian’s Lani Calizo finished in fifth place in the high , capping off a terrific season with a leap of 5’1”. Whitko’s Emerson Harper and Wawasee’s Kaydence Shepherd barely missed out on advancing, finishing fifth and sixth in the long competition. Tippecanoe Valley’s Chesnee Miller finished off a strong career with an eighth place finish in the 400M race. The Manchester 4x800M relay team of Ayla Cashdoller, Ava Egolf, Evyn Fox and Hannah Eberly finished 15th in their race. Egolf took sixth in the 800M race.
The state finals will be held next Friday night, May 31, at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex at Indiana University at Bloomington.
