  1. Tuohy might want to send a big bouquet of congratulatory flowers to Ms Valby. Valby not only ran fast enough to win a 1st-in-meet for her team, but also provided pacing and drafting for Tuohy.

  2. I love watching Tuohy run. So smooth, so strong, such a beautiful stride. Valby is not quite as contained, but still strong. Very talented runners.

  3. Why would she be running with wet socks and wet feet? (as per post race interview) With that in mind, how much better can Tuohy get? I'm not a track coach, I'm not a personal trainer…but I look at Tuohy and see how her thighs are a little flabby compared to the 'thinner' runners, plus knowing how thin the Ethiopians are that are a minute faster than her as they are super thin also. So, should she be crosstraining & using the pool like Valby? I've also heard changing up weight workouts 4 muscle 'confusion' is a benefit, so why isn't continuously changing up a running routine (coupled w/the correct amount of rest)? So, what I'm saying, in the next two years, I'd like KT to change back n forth on her routines, lose a few ounces on the thighs (back to what she had when she was running the 15:37 5000M 4th in the world U20) gain a little hip as women can still increase hip size up 'til 25, AND…run with dry socks so she doesn't slip on every step let alone WORRY about slipping on every step while she's racing the race. Plus, I say this w/o ever having seen her workout since the interview w/her N Rockland HS coach.

  4. Tuohy is just a MAGNIFICENT runner. That is the only way to put it. She looks so relaxed, poised, and purposeful. To win with such dominance over someone of the caliber of Valby (who is a tremendously exciting ferocious runner herself) is amazing. And Tuohy looked like she still had something in the tank. It is going to be really exciting to see what these two runners do in the years to come.

  5. I'm from Russia. And for 4 years now I've been rooting for Katelyn Tuohy as if I were my own. She is a very talented girl. I wish her health and great victories! She reminds me of a very talented, young Russian skier, Olympic champion, Veronika Stepanova.

  6. So, Wolfpack ladies take the 1, 9, 10 and 11 spots in outdoor 5k, while Kelsey Chmiel sat this season out. I think 1) NC State repeats as NCAA Cross champions and 2) their team score will be under 50, and it could be around 45. Amazing what they're doing right now as a team.

  7. Congrats to Katelyn on a well-deserved title. I disagree with the lady announcer, doesn't really seem to understand racing at this level. It looked like Katelyn was controlling the race from the front and Valby looked fairly comfy running next to her, running extra distance for most of the race. When Valby made her move, it looked like she was stretching Katelyn a bit as the gap was about 4-5 meters for a decent period. Katelyn got on her shoulder then made her move got the gap and at the end looked as if she was rigging/running out of steam the last 50 meters. I don't think she had hardly anything left in the tank. Congrats to an awesome race for both of these young women!

  8. Just incredible! I have NEVER been interested in track in my life. Katelyn is certainly making me a fan. I think most of all is that she is so much more than a great runner. Her discipline, tenacity, and work ethic give me hope. I wish more up and comers could learn from her on how to be a success on and off the field.
