I bet that I could win medals at an indoor track meet.
go fight'n gobblers
Watch out!
Sorry to break it to the crowd here but this wasn't an instance of someone "front running" or "trying a new strategy." This was someone taking the opportunity to spectacularly bomb a race in order to fight an external battle (real or imagined). Likely something as simple as she was mad that her coach told her to sit back the first lap, so she did the opposite. This was in the realm of her 400m PR… 56.15 is in the realm of the fastest opening 400m splits EVER run indoors, in all likelihood faster than the opening split for any time in the world record progression, including the current world record.
My middle schools record 2:03 and some of them aren’t running that the kid must of been a beast
Eaaasssssy😎
Respect the strategy of taking it out a little harder/taking the lead to avoid getting bunched up. It might have just ended up being even faster than she wanted/expected. Just wasn't her day, it happens. Plus she only ended up one second behind Maloney, who was one of the favorites to win, if I remember correctly. Great race by Butler tho, didn't panic when Hendrick had a huge lead and just ran her own race, great stuff.
Very good race execution, congrats
Yeahh Sarah (Kennesaw State runner) went to the Olympic trials, she’s no joke. Ran a gutsy race, I applaud her efforts.
Guys chill the F out. Strategy is strategy sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Kudos to her for trying something that others won't dare.
Commentators need to shut there mouths that was so disrespectful to the Kennesaw State runner calling her a rabbit.
Go Hokies!
Get out in front … then everyone knows who you are … even if you finish last. Coach probably told her to do it so you just keep hearing Kennesaw State!
The ONLY woman who can run a race like that (and win) is Athing Mu. Athing can take a race out hard and maintain her compose til the end.
Good Run!💥
run your race… congrats on 2nd !!!
Good on her for shooting her shot, she probably knew she had to do something different to have a chance so she gambled. Y'all are being disrespectful (including the commentators)
The commentators were a bit excessive and DISRESPECTFUL. To reference her as a “rabbit” was extremely uncalled for. She represents small D1 schools around the country who don’t have the funds or access to go race at the best meets against the best competition 24/7. Was it her best race? No. But she’s been in the finals 2 years in a row. She was in outdoor finals. AND she ran in the Olympic trials. She’s far from a “rabbit”.
Lead girl made the finals in back to back years. Have some respect
Did her coach enter her in the wrong race??
Valery Tobias is a beast !
Called her "the rabbit" such disrespect. I hope the Kennesaw runner sees this hears me appreciate how she went for it and not any of the crap the jerk was saying.
So Sarah Hendrik did a 56-second lap followed by a 70 second. Not the kind of person to go into business with.
i was so confused lmfao, thought i was watching a 400 at first
The runner who took it out had a really nice butt tho.
Kennesaw State Press Release: "We won the 400m in record time … too bad it was in the 800m!"
Coming from a cycling background, it’s often a great strategy to make moves like the initial leader did. It can, on occasion, create confusion in the pack behind, and allow the leader just a tiny window to gain an advantage. I suspect the young lady did the math against her competitors and guessed she would lose in a traditional matchup, so trying something different may have increased her odds of success. It usually doesn’t work, but why not try? I applaud the gamesmanship.
That was terrible front running
Go big or go home! How about doing both in the same race?
thought the kennesaw state girl was about to pull an aaliyah miller haha, i dont blame her tho the adrenaline you get at the start of an 800 is no joke
