Women’s track and field places seventh at NESCAC Championships


MEDFORD, Mass. — Seniors Isabel MayAlma Mackic, and Chrissy Amanearned All-NESCAC honors for top-three finishes, highlighting the conference championships Saturday for the Bates women’s team.

Bates finished in seventh place out of 11 schools with 47 points, just six points behind sixth-place Colby College.

Meet Highlights

  • May (Erving, Mass.) raced the finish in the 10,000 meters in 36:28.28, good for second place. Her time is the third-fastest in Bates history. Meanwhile, junior Phoebe Pohl (Wayland, Mass.) took sixth place in a personal-record time of 37:47.51.
  • Mackic (Lake Forest, Ill.) took third place in the hammer throw with a top effort of 146-2 (44.55m) and finished sixth in the discus with a personal-record throw of 115-0 (35.06m), good for seventh on the Bates all-time performance list.
  • Aman (Hanover, N.H.) placed third in the 1,500 meters in 4:34.33.
  • Sophomore Kylie Musante(Brentwood, Tenn.) finished fifth in the 800 meters in a personal-record time of 2:16.10, good for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
  • Musante, first-year Leah White (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Aman, and sophomore Evelyn Marchand (Trumbull, Conn.) combined to finish fourth in the 4×800 relay in 9:32.15.
  • Senior captain Kahryn Cullenberg (Farmington, Maine) took fifth in the 5,000 meters in a personal-record time of 17:39.92.
  • Sophomore Moriah Scharn(Dunstable, Mass.) finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles, running a personal-record time of 14.84 seconds in the prelims before racing to the finish in 16.59 seconds in the final.
  • Scharn, first-year Anushka Chavda(Nottingham, N.H.), first-year Alannah Ardrey(New York City), and senior captain Maddie Lee(Providence, R.I.) combined to finish eighth in the 4×100 relay in 50.29 seconds.
  • Sophomore Carli Ciavarelli(Ridgefield, Conn.) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a top effort of 145-7 (44.37m) and eighth in the discus with a personal-record throw of 108-0 (32.93m).

The Bobcats are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the New England Division III Outdoor Championships.
