Women’s Track & Field Three-Peats As NESCAC Champions


The NESCAC Women’s Track & Field Champions.

The Middlebury women’s team won its third-straight NESCAC Championship, highlighted by four individual champions, 13 all-conference performances and two school records. The Panthers tallied 144 points to earn the crown, while Amherst finished as the runner-up with 136 points and Bowdoin rounded out the top-three (120 points). 
 
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Leading off the day was Jaxon Palmer, claiming the hammer throw title with a toss of 46.12 meters. The toss was a personal best for Palmer by nearly one full meter. The Panther also finished as the runner-up in the javelin, launching the implement a season-best distance of 38.41m.
  • Also being crowned a NESCAC Champion in the throws was Julia Tulimieri, winning the shot put with a season-best mark of 12.26m.
  • Audrey MacLean was dominant in the distance events, winning gold in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000. In the steeple, MacLean broke the tape with a personal best time of 10:30.98, while clocking in at 17:20.17 to win the crown in the longer event.
  • A pair of school records fell during the meet. Zoe Wang tied her personal best height of 3.70m in the pole vault, which tied the record she set two weeks. Wang also owns the school mark in the event in indoors. Also achieving a Middlebury record was the 4× team of Katie Bruno, Melissa White, Michelle Louie and Macy Daggitt, who clocked in at 47.63 seconds. White and Louie were part of the previous time of 47.69 seconds which was set in 2023. 
  • Daggitt hit the sand at 5.64m in the jump to earn silver.
  • In the final event of the day, the 4×800 squad comprised of Elle Thompson, Lily Bulczynski, Caroline VanSchaick and Tatum Peskin placed second overall with a time of 9:20.47 to clinch the team title for the Panthers.
  • With a personal-best mark of 11.39m, Lucy Pollitt earned runner-up honors in the triple jump.
  • Also earning second place was Madeline Sauders, launching the discus 41.54m.
  • Thompson stopped the clock in 2:15.18 in the 800 to earn third place, while Ciara Dale earned bronze in the 400 (1:03.23).
  • Louie also recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes, stopping the clock in 12.20 seconds in the and 25.23 seconds in the 200, both of which were personal record times.
  • Peskin earned fourth in the steeple, recording a personal best time of 11:13.60.
  • The 4×400 quartet of Louie, Annabel Cloney, Dale and Anna Krouse had the fourth-fastest time (3:53.71) which was their quickest of the season.
  • Rounding out finishers in the top-five spots was Lilly Wurtz, placing fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.71m.

NOTES

  • MacLean is one of just three Panthers to win a pair of individual NESCAC Titles in a single year. Margo Cramer claimed the 1,500 and the steeple in 2012, while Cassie Kearney won the 800 and the 1,500 in both 2021 and 2022. MacLean is the only Panther to achieve the feat as a rookie.
  • Palmer earns her second NESCAC Title, having won the javelin in 2022.
  • Middlebury has won five conference crowns (1998, 2000, 2022, 2023, ).

Select Panthers will compete next weekend at the two-day Division III New England Championships hosted by Mt. Holyoke.
