Tens of thousands of runners have crossed the finish line at the London marathon – but only four of them have reached gold. On the women’s side, Tigst Assefa set a world record for a women’s only field, while Kenya’s Sebastian Sawe took the gold in the men’s race. Marcel Hug of Switzerland won the men’s wheelchair title, and Catherine Debrunner, also of Switzerland, took the women’s.
