Maine Governor Janet Mills celebrated a legal victory against the federal government after the State challenged sanctions for violating Title IX. Maine and the Department of Agriculture reached a settlement. Mill’s celebration was seen as a betrayal of female athletes, who still have to compete against males. On Friday, transgender athlete Soren Stark-Chessa won the girls 800 800-meter and 1600-meter races. Many accused Mills of showing no empathy for the women and girls of Maine.
