Several area high school track and field athletes competed on day one of the state class AAA track and field meet. Wayzata’s Maddie Gullickson took first place in the 3200 meter run, finishing in a time of 10:26.45. Gullickson has now won three consecutive state titles in the girls 3200m. Will Weber of Wayzata placed fourth in the boys 3200, clocking a time of 9:15.05. In girls discus, Wayzata’s Katie Kelzenberg took second with a throw of 146-00. Armstrong’s Ava Mack placed one spot behind Kelzenberg in third with a throw of 141-08. Park Center’s Rico Calvert took sixth place in the boys triple jump; his best jump was 44-01.75. In the boys pole vault, Henry White of Maple Grove finished tied for third place, clearing a jump of 15-00.00. The state meet continues through Thursday at St. Michael-Albertville High School with the AAA final Thursday afternoon and evening.
