Track athlete in high school baton attack faces bombshell charge

The high school track athlete who was filmed smacking her opponent on the back of the head with a baton in Virginia could now face an assault charge.

Alaila Everett was running the second leg for I.C. Norcom High School girl’s 4×200m relay team when she allegedly hit Kaelen Tucker at the Virginia State Indoor Championships on March 7.

The incident quickly went viral, with many debating whether or not the incident was deliberate or an accident.

The incident culminated with Everett’s team, IC Norcum, being disqualified from the race.
